Stop being assholes.
Stop being assholes to cashiers, waiters, sales clerks, flight attendants,
counter clerks, ushers, and hostesses.
Stop treating people like your slaves just because they work in the "service"
industry.
It's not their fault you're running late and the line is long because the store
they work at is too cheap or broke to hire more employees.
It's not their fault the computer system crashed and there is no way for them to
fill your order.
It's not their fault that you thought that the fish was too fishy.
It's not their fault their is a thunderstorm in St. Louis causing flight delays.
And it's definitely not their fucking fault that you are miserable with your
life and think treating other people like shit is the way to alleviate that
problem.
And even if something is their fault, what, you've never made a mistake??
Be patient.
Be kind.
Be gracious.
Be understanding.
These things don't hurt you. In fact they can help. Clam and rational is much
less stressful.
And maybe, just maybe, taking that moment to wait without complaining or
thanking someone for doing something for you even though it's their job, can
make someone else's life a little less miserable.

Say What Now of the Day: A Jewish York University professor came under fire recently for an anti-Semitic statement he made in class.
The hell you say? Listen up: A 22-year-old senior named Sarah Grunfeld complained to local Jewish groups that Professor Cameron Johnston had the audacity to exclaim “all Jews should be sterilized” in his “Self, Culture and Society” class.
Except that, had Grunfeld not tuned Johnston out before leaving the classroom in a huff, she might have heard him say “‘All Jews should be sterilized’…would be an example of an unacceptable and dangerous opinion.”
Luckily, Johnston managed to talk the Jewish community down from their calls to have him fired. The incident was “a very unfortunate misunderstanding,” said Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs rep. Sheldon Goodman.
Grunfeld, however, is not backing down from her claim that Johnston is an anti-Semitic Jew: “The words, ‘Jews should be sterilized’ still came out of his mouth,” she told the Toronto Star, “so regardless of the context I still think that’s pretty serious.”
